Animal Caretaker
Ensure that patients receive the highest quality of attention when hospitalized, while maintaining a clean and safe environment.
REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Technical Services Department
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Service all outpatient exam rooms.
- Maintain patient quarters while patient is hospitalized.
- Maintain supply of laundered towels and bedding.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Possess ability to monitor patient flow in order to determine where needs are.
- Know the hospital policies. Read and understand hospital manual.
- Know all employees and their positions.
- Know and use standard medical and business abbreviations for noting treatment and behavior changes.
- Possess good spelling abilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
|
- Must be able to read cage cards well enough to document changes in behavior.
- Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with clients and other employees.
- Standing/walking approximately 90% of the time.
- Moderate lifting (up to 25 lbs.) approximately 20% of the time.
- Bending/kneeling approximately 25% of the time.
- Must be able to work all hours the hospital is open.
