  • Toilet Training Cats

    Dear Boo:

Our companion person is concerned about how much kitty litter ends up in landfill, but we think she just doesn’t like toting the buckets of litter or cleaning our boxes. She’s thinking about switching us from boxes to the toilet! Has she lost her mind or what?

    Keiko and Twix

    Dear Keiko and Twix:

As a 3-legged cat, and now an aging 3-legged cat, I personally am unable to jump up onto a toilet, so I am very content with the litter box option.

It is certainly possible to train some cats to use a toilet, but it will likely take time and effort. A Google search on “toilet training your cat” will yield multiple sources that will give instructions and other tips on how to toilet train a cat. And, yes, your owner would not have to tote around as much litter!

Good luck to both of you.

    Boo
